1. Use YouTube to get traffic to your website and blog.

If you’ve got a website or blog which brings in income, you need traffic. Many websites were hard-hit by Google’s Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird updates. If this happened to you, you’re hurting. You can use YouTube to not only regain traffic, but also increase it. Get started using the Creator Playbook. Once you’re set up, consider repurposing some older content into videos, as well as creating new videos. YouTube is an amazing resource for market research – you can soon discover whether your brilliant, innovative idea is likely to be profitable. For example, if you’ve got an idea for a product, but need funding, create some videos before you create a Kickstarter.com campaign. The views and comments on your videos will tell you whether your idea is viable in its present form. The YouTube audience can even help you to make it viable, so that your efforts to get funding are successful.

1. Set up and build your YouTube channel. Your channel is your personal presence on YouTube. Each YouTube account has one channel attached to it. A YouTube account is the same as a Google account, and creating a YouTube account will grant you access to other Google products, such as Gmail and Drive.

   • By uploading regularly you can help hold an audience. People are more likely to subscribe if you add content on regular schedule, and maintain that schedule as much as possible.
   • Make sure to tag your videos with key words that describe the content, as well as an eye-catching description. These will help drive people to your video from YouTube searches.

   Gain an audience. Building an audience is key to increasing your monetization. You need people to watch your ads in order to make any money off of them. There is no one secret to getting more subscribers, just make the best content that you can and they will come to you.
   

   • Keep uploading content and try to get people hooked. Send your video out on Twitter and Facebook. Share it with people. Distribute it elsewhere on the internet. Subscribers are essential to becoming a partner.

iPhone Apps Are First and Better Looking

Most of the popular apps are on both platforms, but many top games and apps still come to iPhone first. We’re seeing more apps come to both Android and iPhone at the same time, but there are still way more iPhone only apps that we see than Android only.

When apps are available on iPhone and Android we still often see a better design on the iPhone version than on Android. This is something that still rings true in 2016. For example we still see some new Snapchat features and Spotify features come to iPhone before Android.

Apps are an area where the gap is closing, but the differences still exist and are noticeable. We also see Apple take better care of the App Store. Recently they purged 47,300 apps from the app store that were simply bad or abandoned.

Fast iPhone Updates for All

iPhone owners enjoy quick and regular iOS updates for the iPhone no matter what carrier they use.

Faster updates are available for all iPhone owners.

Android updates take months to arrive on all the devices. After an Android device is 18 months old, you may need to wait for a new Android smartphone to get the latest software.

Apple delivers iPhone updates to devices that are three years old. Apple offers iPhone 4s iOS 9 support. It is unheard of to see support for an Android phone that old. iOS 10 is available for the iPhone 5.

When you look at Android devices support ends much faster. Google promises at least two years for Nexus devices, which means Nexus 6 support ends this fall and the Nexus 6P in September 2017. Google may push farther out, but it is not a guarantee. Other Android device manufacturers don’t typically match the longevity of iOS updates.

On top of the added update support, Apple does not allow carriers to hold up the updates. As soon as the update is available from Apple it is available on every carrier.

If you really want Android Nougat, you may need to simply buy a new Android phone.

Works Great with All Your Devices

If you own an iPhone, iPad and Mac your information flows smoothly from one device to the other. You can quickly sync photos to all of your devices, answer a phone call on your iPad or Mac and send text messages from your other devices. There is also support for Handoff that allows you to start a task on your iPhone and continue on your iPad or Mac.

Overall the connectivity between these devices is something Android doesn’t yet match without relying on a collection of third-party applications and services to hodgepodge together a similar feature.

Sharing a file from your iPhone to your Mac is also faster and easier thanks to AirDrop. This built-in service sends the file wirelessly directly to the Mac, even when there is no other WiFi around.

No Carrier Bundled Apps

There are no extra carrier apps installed on the iPhone when you buy it. On many Android phones, there are a dozen carrier branded apps, and there might be another dozen apps that you will never use but that someone paid the carrier to install.

Many times you cannot uninstall these extra apps, only disable them. This means they still exist on your phone and take up space. This is a small issue on day one, but after a year when you need more memory, and you cannot delete Candy Crush and VZ Navigator, it’s a problem.

Apple isn’t perfect when it comes to pre-installing apps, like the Apple Watch and Apple News app, but the iPhone app experience out of the box is more of a blank slate. With iOS 10 you can at least remove the user data portion and hide Apple apps.

AppleCare+ iPhone Warranty

Apple offers an iPhone warranty for $99 to $129 that extends the manufacturer’s warranty to two years, adds two years of accidental damage coverage and support by phone or in store. This is AppleCare+ and it is a service that you need to buy, but it is something that most Android phones don’t come with.

AppleCare+ is incredibly handy.

HTC offers a free one-year UhOh protection that covers a cracked screen, water damage or carrier switch. Samsung offers a Galaxy warranty program for the Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy Note 4 for $99 and $129 depending on the phone. This offers similar features to AppleCare+, but you cannot take it into a store for a replacement. On the upside you can get next business day replacement shipping after the claim is approved.

The rest of the Android smartphone world must rely on more expensive carrier plans or go to third parties. We’ve already come across users paying $9.99 a month with a $99 deductible to get a replacement for a Galaxy S3 Mini.

Apple’s option is a better value than what you will find from most carriers and from what you will find for most Android phones. With the new $29 screen repair option and $99 repair deductible AppleCare+ is an even better value.

Sharing to Other iPhones

When your friends have iPhones sharing everything is a bit easier. For instance, if you want to share your location with friends on iPhone it only takes a tap or two from the message you are sending to share it. Sharing a photo, link or file is also simple with AirDrop.

This seems like a small thing, but once a friend switches to Android you’ll quickly find out that you need to download several apps to maintain the same level of sharing that Apple builds in.

Samsung is making it easier to share between Samsung phones and Android Marshmallow does a better job of Android to Android sharing, but the odds are some of your friends will still be a phone behind you or an update behind you.

We could see Android Nougat help close this lead, but that will only help users if it arrives on their phones.

Worth More When You Resell

The iPhone holds its value better than an Android phone. If you sell your one-year-old or two-year-old Android smartphone, even a flagship device, you will often get much less than you paid.

When you sell an older iPhone, it is easy to find offers of almost double the value of an Android phone that came out at the same time.

An old iPhone is worth more than an old Android phone.

For instance, an entry-level Galaxy S5 from 2014 is worth $70 in flawless condition on Gazelle. The iPhone 6 that came out a few months later is worth $210 in flawless condition.

With better build quality and higher demand on more recent Android devices, this is changing in some instances, but for now the iPhone still offers a better resale value over time.

6 ways - why android is better than IPHONE?

Recently, there have been releases/announcements of the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, Google Pixel, LG G5, HTC One (M9), and many other phones. Each release of a phone is like a single Mentos being dropped into a 2-liter of Coke -- a new explosion of debate that overwhelms the social network about who has the "best" phone. Android! No, iOS! Galaxy S7! No, iPhone 7! The debate goes on and on.

Before I get into the nitty-gritty, I want to say this. I am not an "Apple hater", and never have been. I currently own an Android phone (a Galaxy S7 Edge), I have a Windows based desktop at both work and home, I own a Macbook Pro, a Windows laptop, and I have an iPad Pro at work. I prefer to "coexist" when it comes to all the operating systems and devices out there, and I use what fits my needs as everyone should. So, before any iFans come in here looking to heckle this article, please don't. I love my Macbook Pro and the iPad I use at work. I just believe that an Android phone is better than an iPhone, and I'll state my reasons why.

*deep breath* Okay, that's done. Now, the reason why I am writing this article is because of some of the articles I have seen shared around the social media sites. For example, an article titled 5 reasons iPhone still beats Android on The Daily Dot. Perhaps you've read it already because it was shared over 273,000 times a couple years ago when I first wrote this article.

I personally believe the 5 reasons listed in the article as to why the iPhone still beats Android are pathetic at best, and don't focus on hardware at all which is, well, extremely important considering your entire phone IS hardware without taking into account what software is running on the phone. The article's 5 reasons focus on consistency, the Apple App Store, malware in the marketplace, "crapware", and home base. You can read more details about each reason in the article. All the reasons are software based or have to deal with items pertaining to how Apple does things. Not convincing at all.

Now, my turn to tell you why an Android phone is better than an iPhone:

1. Choices, choices, and more choices...

When you choose an Android phone, you have what seems like an endless amount of choices for phones. Do you want a phone that does what phones do along with taking extremely good pictures? Buy a phone whose main focus is the camera. Do you want a rugged phone that could withstand being dropped many times? Do you want a phone that has a Quad HD screen rather than the 720-1080p screen? Do you want a phone with a smaller or bigger form factor? Android phones cover all this plus so much more. That's the beauty of Android phones -- you can get the one that fits you.

With an iPhone, well, it's just an iPhone. Whatever it has in it is what you get. Sure you might get 2 or 3 options for a smaller or bigger phone that have slightly different hardware but that's it. The camera, screen, internal hardware, etc. is going to be the same on a model to model basis. For example, you can't buy an iPhone that has a high megapixel camera like Android users can with the Sony Xperia Z5.

2. Customization

My favorite part about Android phones -- customization. If you enjoy being able to customize your phone, then Android is the way to go. Don't like the standard keyboard that Android comes with? Easy! Just download a third-party keyboard app that replaces the stock one. Don't like the entire launcher that runs your phone? Download a new launcher. Want to make your phone have a layout exactly like a Windows phone? Yep, you can do that, too.

Where has this been with iOS? Well, Apple likes to keep things simple and user-friendly which is fine. Why then, with the release of iOS 8, did they copy many things that Android has had for a long time now? Predictive text on your messages, a health app, third-party keyboards, Swype texting, cloud storage for all your photos, widgets, and more. Android (thanks to Google) had all of these features long before iOS 8. After all, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". It's safe to say that the majority of the latest and greatest software features can be found with Android and Apple is now behind. Android wins.

3. Hardware

I believe that the hardware category really solidifies the debate between Android and Apple. People can argue all day about what software (operating system) is better for this reason or that, but you can't argue blatantly better and faster hardware.

For simplicity's sake, I am only going to focus on two phones for this category: the Apple iPhone 7 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge since they are the current flagship phones for both Apple and Samsung. Keep in mind the Galaxy S7 Edge was released in March of 2016, and the iPhone 7 Plus was released in September of 2016 and is therefore 6 months newer. 

As you can see from the spec comparison, the Galaxy S7 Edge still is far superior than the iPhone 7 Plus, and the iPhone 7 Plus was released 6 months after the Galaxy S7. The Galaxy S7 has been out for many months now, and the S8 will bring with it even better hardware specs. With specs such as an octa-core processor, more RAM, much more battery capacity, a higher PPI, the phone being more water-resistant, and the capability for wireless and fast charging, it should be a no-brainer that the Galaxy S7 Edge is the clear winner when it comes to hardware.

4. The Google Play™ Store

The Google Play Store is fantastic. It is well laid out, extremely user-friendly, and offers about any type of app that you can think of. They just changed the layout to a very nice UI when you click on an app in the Play Store that you can see with the right-most "Instagram" picture above. It's easy to read, they show the users what they want to see, and it's visually appealing. I have used both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store quite a bit. They're both very good app stores -- better than Amazon's App Store that's for sure.

That's not where the advantage comes in for Android, however. The advantage here is that submitting an app to the Google Play Store is much easier than going through the Apple App Store. Yes, that is because Apple goes through a tedious process of checking your app that you are submitting to make sure it follows their guidelines. This may prevent malware from being downloaded via an app, but that's not even half of it. Apple will deny your app from getting into the app store if you do something as silly as using their "chevron" symbol incorrectly. Trust me, I've seen it happen. So, no, it's not just about preventing malware... it's about making your app perfect in Apple's eyes.

On the other hand, it is much easier to submit your Android-built app to the Google Play Store. You don't have to go through half the stuff that you have to go through with Apple. This makes your life less stressful, and I like that. How many people do you actually know that have malware on their phone specifically from an app they downloaded from the app store? I don't know anyone. Besides, has common sense just flown out the window in this day and age? The Internet isn't filtered from malware, so do you go to a website that screams "THIS IS A VIRUS!"? No, it's just common sense. If there's an app that says "Hey! This is a virus, you should probably download it so I can hack you", do you download it? No. Just like if you're buying an item online, if you are debating about buying an item, do you buy the item that is rated 4.5/5 stars by 2,000 people or the item that is rated 1.5/5 stars by 700 people? Use common sense people, and bask in the glory of how easy it is to get your newly created Android app into the Google Play Store for everyone to see.

5. Widgets & Multitasking

This somewhat ties in with the Customization section, but Widgets have long been a huge advantage of Android over iOS. With iOS 8, Apple finally just implemented "widgets", but they are pretty limited. You can only add them to your Notification Center. Apple opted not to have widgets available on any of your main home screens to "avoid clutter". Um, what? Having widgets on my Android home screens is one of my favorite things about Android.

Android offers all sorts of widgets that you can put onto your home screens. These widgets might be anything from a custom clock, weather, alarms, direct calls to contacts in your phone, flashlight, email, messages, and so much more. You can arrange these any which way on your home screens and have your home screens be exactly the way you want them.

Multitasking has also been around on Android for a while, and it's extremely easy to use. You simply open up the multitask window and you can drag two apps that you want to have going at the same time in the appropriate boxes (see the picture above). For example, I am watching a YouTube video while accessing my file system at the same. Perhaps you want to watch a lecture video while taking notes right below the video? Or, watch a video while texting your friends? Go for it. Your move, Apple.

**Note: Apple finally came out with the ability to multitask, however it is only somewhat useful on iPads, and not implemented very well. Since Android has had multitasking for so long and do it so well, they still take the cake over iOS.

6. Expandable Memory and More

The majority of Android phones offer expandable memory. That means you can pop open the back cover or a slot on the side of your phone and put in a micro SD card which then becomes added memory to your phone. What does Apple do? Well, they've never offered expandable memory for the iPhone. Instead, they would rather you pay another $100 to upgrade one of their devices from a 16 GB memory to a 32 GB or 64 GB (like an iPod for example). Are you serious? I took my Galaxy S7 Edge with 32 GB of internal memory and added another 64 GB micro SD card in it and voila! My phone now has 96 GB of capacity and how much did that cost me? $19 for the SD card. Android wins.

Android Nougat 7.1 features

Earlier this year google announced a proposal to promote gender equality by adding new emoji that reflect the pivotal roles women play in the world, and represent a wider range of professions for both women and men. We included gender counterparts for emoji that previously only had male or female representation. Now there are female welders and men getting haircuts. Our new set of emoji launched with the Pixel phones and now are available to all devices running Android 7.1.1. So you can jam like a rock star or explore the galaxy like an astronaut.

And if you’re looking for more ways to express yourself, you also can now send GIFs directly from your keyboard on supported apps such as Google Allo, Google Messenger and Hangouts.

And for everyone looking for just one more way to make life easier, Android 7.1.1 brings you app shortcuts directly from your home screen. Launch actions on your favorite apps, such as Twitter or Google Maps, by simply long pressing the app icon. Jump directly into an existing conversation on Google Messenger or start an entirely new one - all straight from the app icon.

Today, and over the next several weeks, the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One) will get an over the air (OTA) software update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Any devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program will also receive this final version.

How to bypass Android’s lock screen pattern, PIN or password

In your smartphone is to keep strangers (or friends) from checking out your messages or private pictures. Beyond that, you don’t want anyone who dares to steal your phone to get full access to your mails, pictures or other sensitive data. But what if you’re the one who cannot access your phone? You could forget your PIN or pattern, right? Or someone pranks you by setting up a lock screen pattern and just leaves you struggling with it.

In any case, there’s quite an easy solution to this without smashing your phone against a wall (or your friend’s face). The only thing you need is to have Android Device Manager enabled on your device (before you locked yourself out of your phone). If you have a Samsung phone, you can also unlock your phone using your Samsung account.

Forgot your Android lock screen pattern, PIN or password? Here’s what to do

I tested the following methods using a lock screen pattern, PIN and password and was able to unlock my LG G2 with Android 4.4.2 successfully.

Unlock your Android device using Android Device Manager (ADM)

As already mentioned, the following method only applies to devices that have Android Device Manager enabled.

1. On a computer or other mobile phone, visit: google.com/android/devicemanager
2. Sign in using your Google login details that you also used on your locked phone.
3. In the ADM interface, select the device you need to unlock (if it isn’t already selected).
4. Select ‘Lock’
5. In the appearing window, enter a temporary password. You don’t have to enter a recovery message. Now click ‘Lock’ again.
6. If it was successful, you should see a confirmation below the box with the buttons Ring, Lock and Erase.
7. On your phone you should now see a password field in which you should enter the temporary password. This should unlock your phone.
8. Now, before you go on with your life, go to your phone’s lock screen settings and disable the temporary password.
9. That’s it!

Unlock your Android lock screen pattern with your Google Login (only Android 4.4 and below)

If you haven’t updated your firmware to Android Lollipop (5.0), then there’s a faster way to unlock a lock screen pattern.

1. Enter a wrong lock screen pattern five times (shouldn’t be hard if you don’t remember the correct one)
2. Select ‘Forgot Pattern’
3. Now you should be able to enter a backup PIN or your Google account login.
4. Enter either your backup PIN or your Google login.
5. Your phone should now be unlocked.

Bypass your Samsung phone’s lock screen using its Find My Mobile tool

This is an easy way to unlock your Samsung device if you created a Samsung account and registered it beforehand.

1. Go to Samsung Find My Mobile.
2. Sign in using your Samsung login details.
3. In the Find My Mobile account interface you should see your registered phone on the left hand side. This tells you that you’re phone is registered to that account.
4. On the left sidebar, select ‘Unlock my screen’.
5. Now select ‘Unlock’ and wait for a few seconds for the process to finish.
6. You should get a notification window telling you that your screen is unlocked.
7. That’s it. Your phone should be unlocked.

Disable your lock screen using custom recovery and “Pattern Password Disable” (SD card needed)

This method is for more advanced Android users that know what the terms “rooting” and “custom recovery” mean. As the title says, for this to work you need any kind of custom recovery installed and your phone must have an SD card slot. Why the SD card? Well, we need to transfer a ZIP file to your phone and that’s usually not possible when it’s locked. The only way is to insert an SD card with the file.Unfortunately, card slots became kind of a rare thing in the smartphone world, so this will only work for some people.

Here’s what you need to do:

1. Download the Pattern Password Disable ZIP file on your computer and put it on an SD card.
2. Insert the SD card into your phone.
3. Reboot your phone into recovery.
4. Flash the ZIP file on your SD card.
5. Reboot.
6. Your phone should boot up without a locked screen. Should there be a password or gesture lock screen, don’t panic. Just type in a random password or gesture and your phone should unlock.

It’s possible that none of the options above got you passed the lock screen. Luckily, some of our readers struggling with that issue were able to find even more creative ways to bypass their lock screen and were so kind to share them. We’re extremely thankful for that!

We haven’t tested them throroughly on multiple devices or Android versions, so we cannot promise that those will work for you. However, a number of people managed to access their phone again and we hope you’ll do so as well.

1. Call your locked phone from another one.
2. Accept the call and hit the back button during the call
3. This should give you complete access to your phone
4. Go to your phone’s security settings and try to remove the pin or pattern. To do so, you first need to put in the current one, which you obviously don’t know anymore. The only way is to guess and try out different combinations until you get it right. Should you get this far, then you can disable the pin or set a new one.

Zubairuddin’s very creative method can help you out in case you’re Wifi and data connection are both turned off. As mentioned above, this method might only work on LG phones, since it relies on LG’s native quick memo app.

1. Press and hold the volume up key, until the Quick Memo app launches.
2. Draw something random into it.
3. Tap the sharing button and select SmartShare.
4. Selecting SmartShare should activate your phone’s Bluetooth and Wifi (important here is Wifi).
5. Make sure you’re close to a Wifi network that you’re phone connects to automatically.
6. Now, you’re back online and you can go ahead and try all the methods discussed above that require a data connection.

Erase your phone (and lock screen) using Android Device Manager

If all the methods above didn’t work out, you need to move on to more drastic measures. In case Android Device Manager is enabled on your phone and unlocking it didn’t work, you can use it to erase all data by selecting the Erase button. Be aware that this will delete all apps, settings and other data on your phone. The good thing is, once the erasing process is done, you can use your phone again (after setting everything up).

Reset your phone to factory settings

If Android Device Manager doesn’t work at all for you, your last resort is to make a factory reset on your device. On Nexus devices, this can be done in recovery mode, for example. Below, we take you through the reset process that work with Nexus devices. If you own a different Android phone, check out this site and look for your manufacturer’s support page.

How to perform a factory reset on your Nexus using recovery mode:

Important note: If your Nexus device is running Android 5.1 or higher, you’re required to enter a Google username and password associated with your device after the factory reset process finishes. This is a security measure to make sure that no stranger is reseting your phone or tablet. If you fail to enter that data, the phone won’t be usable anymore. Really make sure you know your Googel username and password.

No matter what version of Android you’re running, you need to have an internet connection and if you just changed your Google account password, you need to wait at least 72 hours before starting the reset process.

1. Turn off your device.
2. Press the volume down AND power button and keep pressing them. Your device will start up and boot into the bootloader (you should see “Start” and an Android lying on its back).
3. Press the volume down button to go through the different options until you see “Recovery Mode” (pressing volume down twice). Now press the power button to enter recovery mode.
4. You should see an Android on its back and a red exclamation mark.
5. Press and hold the power button, then press and release the volume up button. Now you should see “Android Recovery” written on the top together with some options.
6. By pressing the volume down button, go down the options until “Wipe data/factory reset” is selected. Press the power button to select this option.
7. Using the volume down button again, go down until “Yes – erase all user data” is selected. Make sure you read through the notes above and then, finally, press the power button to start the reset process.
8. Once the process is done, press the power button to select the reboot option. Your device will now reboot and start the inital setup process of your device. That’s it! All you need to do now is to set up everything and restore your data.
